Dr. Letisha Edwards
Dr. Letisha Edwards is a true Georgia peach, born at the original Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta and was educated in Dekalb County’s school system.
Dr. Edwards attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN. After graduation, she completed a General Practice Residency in Hospital Dentistry at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York and practiced dentistry in Hartford, CT, for over 3 years. Soon after returning to Georgia, she joined the teams of corporate dental offices and private practices around Metro Atlanta before deciding to return to school. Dr. Edwards received a Master of Public Health from Emory University Rollins School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management. She then joined the Oral Health Division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a Dental Public Health Resident, prior to returning to private practice.
The desire to help others has always been a staple in Dr. Edwards’ life; she volunteers yearly for the Georgia Baptist Mobile Unit and travels to different countries in West Africa to provide free dental work. Dr. Edwards loves educating patients on their overall health and proper dental care; she takes great pleasure in helping people feel and look their best. Dr. Edwards is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and numerous dental societies and organizations. Dr. Edwards is ecstatic to join the Athens team and bring her 20+ years of dental knowledge and experience, along with her cheerful smile and personality, to Athens and the surrounding communities.
